The Henry Ford Village Foundation is committed to enhancing the lives of the residents and staff of Henry Ford Village through financial support and philanthropic resources.

The Henry Ford Village Foundation was established in August 2004 as a legal entity, independent from Henry Ford Village Inc. It was established to provide oversight and management of all fundraising programs within Henry Ford Village.

The Foundation provides the structure and resources for a comprehensive philanthropy program at Henry Ford Village. This ensures oversight and fiscal responsibility that contributions received are prudently managed, invested and used for the purposes intended by the donors.

Supported by contributions from residents and community, the Foundation leads two major annual campaigns benefitting Henry Ford Village residents and staff. The Benevolent Care Fund provides assistance for residents who face unforeseen financial hardship, usually as the result of a prolonged illness. Several residents are currently utilizing this fund, which underscores its importance to our community. It is our goal that no resident of Henry Ford Village should ever have to leave the comfort and security of Henry Ford Village because of financial considerations. The purpose of the Scholarship Fund is to provide a scholarship for the young people who work at Henry Ford Village.

There are many ways to make a special contribution to either fund. One option is a current gift of cash, check or securities for the immediate use by the Foundation for the program(s) you wish to support. Current gift-giving options are: outright gift, multi-year pledge, and memorial or tribute gifts. Another option is a planned gift, which is a gift resulting from a planning process. A planned gift may be a bequest, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, life insurance, real estate, entrance deposit designation or others.

An Endowment Fund has been established to build financial security of the Benevolent Care and Scholarship Funds. The Foundation board of directors has directed all planned gifts be invested in an endowment for the Benevolent Fund, unless a donor specifies otherwise. The goal is to raise enough money to build the principal of the Funds. As the endowment continues to grow, the interest income will increasingly be used to meet the current needs. This will continue to be the board’s strategic objective in the future.

The Foundation maintains its own board of directors and staff. The Henry Ford Village Foundation and Henry Ford Village Inc. are considered “financially interrelated organizations,” because the Foundation exists for the benefit of Henry Ford Village.
